Parenting. It'll make an old man (or woman) out of you.
What can you do when one kid-produced anxiety after another hits you, mom or dad?
Well, the BEST thing you can do is laugh about it! That's what today's FamilyFirst site is all about.
It's called Jelly Mom. It's full of humorous observations by Lisa Barker.
I can relate to Lisa. Years ago, I started down the same road that she did. I wrote several humorous pieces on the ups and downs of family life, and managed to get many of them published. However, when I changed careers and got into the IT field, I didn't have much time to devote to writing.
Lisa, however, has stuck with it. She has a book that you can buy online (and the proceeds of which go to charity). She also has past columns that she has written that you can peruse.
The fact is that she is good! Her work will remind you of the dear departed Erma Bombeck.
Her inspiration is five children (aged two to eleven), nine cats, and a Chihuahua that thinks HE's a cat.
Once again, I can relate. My writing output was at its peak when Kari and Neil were twelve and eleven, respectively, and our household was further confused by the presence of two Schnauzers and three cats.
So stressed parent, have fun at today's FamilyFirst site. And remember, just because your kids drive you insane doesn't mean you're a bad parent!
